Greg recently invited EHI Freelancers to create a strategic prayer list at an EHI Meeting. He introduced the importance of prayer, saying, “The New Testament talks a lot about the importance of praying. One verse says, ‘Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.‘ As a team, let’s pray for what we need Jesus to help us with in Bukavu to build His Kingdom. The book of John mentions, ‘Whatever you ask in my name, I will do.‘ If Jesus visited Bukavu, what would He want to see? This will guide our prayers. We know Jesus dislikes poverty because He fed the 5,000. He dislikes disease because He healed people. He dislikes demonic activity because He cast out demons. In the Old Testament, it says we are created in God’s image, meaning we are meant to create. We are also meant to subdue the earth, so we can pray about subduing the earth in Bukavu. What problems do we see that we can pray about? What would Jesus want us to pray for?”

- Jesus, please help people to understand what is required to have a good business environment in Bukavu and to act upon it.
- Jesus, help people to understand their identity in You and to understand that they have the power to create (Genesis 1).
- Jesus, show the freelancers on the team the need to trust one another and the need for them to be trustworthy in all their words and actions.
- Jesus, show the freelancers on the team specific ways that they can love one another and prompt them to act.
- Jesus, help people to be successful freelancers on Upwork and to earn the Top Rated badge.
- Jesus, protect the freelancers from making success and the money an idol.
- Jesus, please bring peace to eastern Congo. If there is no peace, business is very difficult.
- Jesus, help Augustin to integrate freelance work into his gospel plan.
- Jesus, we need a supply of work. Jesus, please show Greg and others at The Herring Group work that could be done by people in Bukavu. (If the Lord would show us this work, then we would not need Connects.)
- Jesus, we need two people in Bukavu who are experts in Microsoft Excel – including power query, power pivot, and visual basic. (The Herring Group has work that they could do.)
- Jesus, help us create a network of people in Bukavu who are doing freelance work and are willing to help each other.
- Jesus, help freelancers to know what they are designed to create and how they are to subdue the earth (Genesis 1).
- Jesus, help people to see the joy in work (Genesis 2).
- Jesus, help people to remember that work is difficult (Genesis 3).
- Jesus, protect the freelancers from people who want to steal their information or their money. Help the freelancers to be as shrewd as serpents and as innocent as doves.
